EU Conference and Awards Ceremony 2004

Europe's best employers are paying more attention to work-family concerns, according to the results of a survey of more than 100,000 employees at nearly 1,000 private and public companies, government agencies and NGOs in 14 European countries. The companies competed in the second annual listing of the 100 Best Workplaces in Europe, which was announced today in London at an awards event hosted by Great Place to Work® Institute Europe in association with the Financial Times.

The winners of the 100 Best Workplaces in Europe competition included companies from all 14 countries and from all industry sectors. Special Awards were given to Timpson (a UK retailer), Microsoft, American Express, Hexal (a German pharmaceutical maker), and Kanal 5 (a Swedish TV station). The largest company on the list was Asda, the giant retailer with UK, with more than 127,000 employees. The smallest were Happy Computers in the UK and Novo Nordisk Hellas in Greece, with 50 employees each.

"Our company has a very open and honest atmosphere. Your opinions and ideas are welcome and you are often informed of changes in a timely manner."
