Special Awards 2005 : PridePRIDE is reflected in employee's sense of pride in their personal jobs; in the work that is produced by their own team; and in their organisation's corporate reputation, which is made up of its services and it's standing in the community. The nominees included:
The winner: Novo Nordisk, Sweden, UKNovo Nordisk is a healthcare company and a world leader in diabetes care. It was founded in 1922, and has more than 20,000 employees worldwide, of these 273 are employed in the UK, and 113 in Sweden. The company provides patients with prod-ucts and services to improve lives, which is something the employees are proud of. The company supports employees' activities outside of work hours, such as playing football or cricket, volunteer work for charities or improvement of the local envi-ronment. Novo Nordisk is committed to Sustainable Development and it has been an integral part of the company for a decade. The Triple Bottom Line is part of this commitment, and contributes to ensuring that the company is socially and environmentally responsible as well as economically viable. In 2001, Novo Nordisk founded the World Diabetes Foundation, improving access to proper diabetes care in the poorest countries. For this cause, the company expects to donate approximately £50 million over the next ten years. |
