This diversified worldwide travel, financial and network services company employs 6,488 people in the UK and 659 people in Italy. Specific products among others include credit cards, Travellers Cheques, personal loans, on-line brokerage, travel and insurance services. American Express believes that integrating diversity into all of its business practices is a key priority: Our data shows that in both the UK and Italy American Express is doing admirable work and can show excellent results especially in the area of gender equality. The company has a high number of women in management positions and supports gender diversity through a unique mentoring scheme and superior flexible working arrangements. In addition, a Global Diversity Council meets three times a year to review the progress of Regional Diversity Councils. Best practices and support policies are collected and a Diversity Toolbox has been developed. A unique appeal process is in place whereby any allegations of discrimination or personal harassment are investigated and quick, appropriate action taken. Any employee can contact the Ombudsperson office directly and confidentially.

"The key word here is freedom. Part of it is flexible hours that enable us to take off whenever we need to. But the main thing is that the management gives us the freedom to work on things in our own way."
