The 2006 list of the 50 Best Companies to Work for in Ireland was produced by the Great Place to Work^® Institute Ireland and published by The Irish Independent. The Top 10 Companies are marked in bold below, but otherwise companies are listed in alphabetical order only. O2 Ireland secured the 'Best Company Overall Award' as well as 'Best Company' in the 'Over 1000 Employees' category. A further four awards were made to the highest ranked companies in the other size categories: PEI; Airtricity; Diageo Ireland; and DePuy (Ireland) Ltd. Five special awards - reflecting key elements of the Great Place to Work(R) model - were announced for Outstanding Achievement in “Best Practices for Internal Communication” (Brightwater); “Best Practices for Work-Life Balance” (Intel Ireland); “Best Practices for Diversity Management” (Abbott Laboratories Ireland Ltd); “Best Practice for employee involvement in Corporate Social Responsibility” (GE Commercial Aviation Services); and “Best Practices for creating a fun place to work” (Google Ireland)
